Choosing Arvida Massage Therapy is a thoughtful investment in yourself.
Individualized Massage Therapy can be intensely transformative. It has the potential to make physical changes in your body, as well as how you perceive and experience it every day. The most common perception of massage is the feel-good ‘ahhhh’ kind of experience it can provide, but to me, it is an opportunity for much more than that; it can open you to challenge yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally.
I say, push yourself. Reach out to a new part of you that you haven’t yet experienced.
Maybe you have a shoulder that just won’t work like the other one. You might need help to release it, and open up into a new movement pattern. Through massage therapy, treatment for this type of condition can be a very measured, no-pain experience, and it can take time. But think about spending 90 minutes on the massage table and discovering you can now move that shoulder in a new way. BAM! I love that! I get revved up by helping someone work through a new functional range of motion or movement pattern that allows them to feel more balanced, or move the way they want with less, or no, pain. It’s that kind of progress that motivates me to give the best treatment I can deliver.
It’s not unusual to experience many surprises on the massage table. For instance, you can suddenly become acutely aware of a restricted area that you didn’t know was there. You’re interested to see what can be done, you’re open to trying, and naturally you want it to feel better. You want a change and I can’t wait to help you achieve it. We both feel energized by the experience, and these moments hold the potential for transformation.
However, whether something changes isn’t entirely up to the Massage Therapist. It’s not enough to say you want it to feel better. It will also take work on the part of the client, to breathe, let go, and to be actively involved in the treatment. We often hold on to the things that cause us pain. You can see how a therapeutic massage can become a mental, and even an emotional exercise and experience, but the results of your efforts can be so completely rewarding!
So, we work together, and for those 90 minutes, it’s all about you. If you’re clear about your goals and you can communicate your moment-to-moment experience of the massage (”Ooh, that’s too much. Okay, that pressure is better…”) then I believe you’ll have the opportunity to feel pretty differently when you get off the table, and perhaps even a little transformed.
